Emerald Windows by Terri Blackstock
Christian Fiction/Romance. 256 Pages. 5 Stars
Synopsis:
Seven years ago, devastated by an ugly scandal, Brooke Martin fled the small town of Hayden to pursue a career as a stained glass artist. Now Brooke has returned on business to discover that some things never change. Her spotted reputation remains. Tongues still wag. And that makes what should be her dream assignment tough.
Brooke has been hired to design new stained glass windows at Hayden Bible Church. The job is a career windfall. But Nick Marcello is overseeing the project, and some in the church think Nick and Brooke’s relationship is not entirely professional—and as before, there is no convincing those people otherwise.
In the face of mounting rumors, the two set out to produce the masterpiece Nick has conceived: a brilliant set of windows displaying God’s covenants in the Bible. For Brooke, it is more than a project—it is a journey toward faith. But opposition is heating up. A vicious battle of words and will is about to tax Brooke’s commitment to the limit. Only this time, she is determined not to run.
My Review:
It’s no secret that I adore Terri Blackstock’s work. This book was one of my first and I have VERY much enjoyed re-reading it!! The story melts my heart in ways I didn’t know were even possible. I must admit that the plot pretty much did me in. I grinned goofy through this whole book, each time I read it. It made my heart soar! Maybe it’s the artist (dance and music, not painting or stained glass!) in me that just really connected with the characters, or maybe it’s the romance that gives me hope that there are still great God-loving guys out there who want to do right and who can be tender, or maybe it’s just Blackstock’s amazing writing! Whatever it is, the small town setting, the multi-faceted, entirely endearing characters, the unwavering faith, and the just…purely joyful storyline, always get me on this one. I shall not wait so long until I pick this one up again!
Definitely hit my top favorites list!! Oh how I wish there was more to this story to read! So inspiring and simply wonderful!! Thrilling and suspenseful!!! Loved it!
