My Review:
This was a sweet story! I love David’s story in the Bible, so it was really cool to get to see him as a figure in a fictional story. This was actually the first time I’ve read anything Biblical fiction like, and it was fun!
This combined the Cinderella story with the Song of Songs in a really seamless and beautiful way. I loved the Cinderella elements and how Faith so effortlessly placed them into this setting with these characters. It was a really, really unique rendition of the fairy tale and had an uplifting, beautiful element that was heartwarming. It definitely made me interested to read the previous books in the series!
This is a novella, so it was a quick, easy read and there wasn’t really enough time to go into as much depth as one would expect from a novel. So, there were some things I would have loved to explore in more depth and watch unfold. There was only a hint of insta-love, but I thought it was handled really well. I mean, the characters had time after their initial meeting to fall for one another–though I’d really have liked to see them explain more about what they loved so much in the other–and, again, the story played right into the hands of Song of Songs, which was just so cool!
Faith, you’re a wonder! I’m excited to check into more of your work, and so honored by your beautiful gift. Thank you!
