What are you currently reading?
I’m just starting Twisting Minds by indie author Tessonja Odette. It’s a sci-fi/dystopian standalone novel she just released. I’m on her ARC team, but I wasn’t able to commit to the ARC this go around because of scheduling issues. However, I actually won a paperback giveaway, so I’m super excited to get to read it!
Thoughts: I’ve read Tessonja’s Lela Trilogy, and I really enjoyed it. I’m a bit fantasy reader and she spun a good story. (You can see my review here for more details.) When I was younger, I read a lot more sci-fi and I’ve always enjoyed it, but I haven’t read much recently, so I’m hoping this one turns out just as good as her fantasy trilogy did!
What did you recently finish reading?
Haha, so continuing along with our Cinderella theme (no, I’m not obssessed; I promise! Just doing a lot of research for my WIP), I most recently finished Not Cinderella’s Type by Jenni James. I decided to try this one out because I thought the movie on Amazon Prime was so cute.
Thoughts: You know, I actually really, really like the story here, but to be perfectly honest, I liked the movie better than the book. :-/ Yeah, I know, that’s hard to say, but see my full review on Goodreads for why. I ended up giving it three stars.
What do you think you’ll read next?
Ahhh! Well, I was going to put something else here this month, but I literally just got word that I have been accepted to receive an ARC of Dust by Kara Swanson! So, WAHHOOOOO! I will most certainly be reading and reviewing that asap!
Thoughts: I am super stoked for this Peter Pan retelling! I’ve been tuned in to all of Kara’s updates on this baby since last August and I’m so so so excited to finally see it published!!
