Welcome to our September 2024 WWWednesday!
My goodness. The end of the year is in sight! This was a bit of a rough reading month. I’ve been in a reading slump, been sick, and had some ramped up work reading to slow down my personal reading. But I got a few books in – even a few shorter ones that I wanted to read, so there was still delight in my reading!
How about you? What have you read lately? Anything good? Are you looking for something new to read? Don’t forget to leave a comment and let me know what you’re reading this month, too!
What is WWW Wednesday?
WWW Wednesday was originally created by A Daily Rhythm and revived by Taking on a World of Words. To participate, simply answer the following questions every Wednesday:
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
Here on GraceBought, we do these as a monthly reading review. The idea is for a quick, easy post that keeps you guys in the loop and me involved on a regular basis!
So, without further ado, here is WWWednesday!
WWWednesday #63
What are you currently reading?
I impulse picked up Morgan Busse’s Mark of the Raven, the first book in her Ravenwood Saga.
Morgan is one of my favorite authors and this one has been on my TBR for a while now. I’ve had a lot of “required” reading lately and I’m such a mood reader, so I kind of just picked this one upon impulse to read something purely because I wanted to (hoping it would get me out of my reading slump). I’m about a third of the way in and really enjoying it so far! Morgan’s stories have never disappointed me yet! They’re so incredibly creative and uplifting. I’m super excited to see where this one goes.
What did you recently finish reading?
The last book I finished was Among the Brave, the 5th book in Margaret Peterson Haddix’s Shadow Children series.
I adore this series. Every single book is an absolute delight. Better even than I remembered reading as a kid (which is such a joy, since sometimes books aren’t as good when you’re older). It’s so applicable to our culture today – it showcases such hope, courage, and virtue. This was one of my favorites when I was a kid, and it’s corny, but I love the cover. It isn’t a cover we’d see in today’s market, but the moment in the story this cover comes from has stuck with me for nearly 15 years! I also am really enjoying reading this series in order for the first time, but that’s a story for another day!
What do you think you’ll read next?
I’m actually a little behind on my nonfiction goal for the year, so I was thinking about tackling Today Matters by John Maxwell next.
I started this a few months ago, but then life got in the way and I set it down. It’s been sitting on my nightstand and I hate reading multiple books at once, so I really want to finish (or maybe just start over since I wasn’t very far into it) it. I was enjoying the first few chapters the first time around and the topic is right up my alley. The idea of intentionality, building small habits that make character qualities, etc. I’m looking forward to digging into a good nonfiction read!

Well, that’s a wrap for this WWWednesday! Let me know what you think below!
Have you read any of the books above? What books are you currently reading, looking forward to, and what have you recently finished reading? How do you make time for reading in busy seasons? I’d love to hear any tips you can share below!
Until next time! Happy reading, friends!
I am still reading and loving Practicing the Way. I highly recommend it. It’s one of the best books I’ve ever read on living the Christian life (and the author is Protestant who quotes a lot of Catholics – very ecumenical)! I’m also still working on Fourth Wing, because I need some fiction in my life!
I recently finished I Never Thought of It That Way by Monica Guzman. It’s excellent. It’s about how to disagree better, how to depolarize our country and ourselves.
Next up is The Saint Monica Club: How to Hope, Wait, and Pray for Your Fallen-Away Loved Ones. I’ll be reading it with a group at church who gathers to pray for friends and family no longer practicing their faith.
Wow! I love that you’re reading books that challenge and inspire you! Learning to disagree is such a crucial skill – one so many don’t seem to have any more. We really are so polarized! And I hate it!
