Welcome to the January 2021 WWWednesday!
It’s a new year! We made it! Yaaaayyyyy!!! The first 2021 WWWednesday! I’m so excited, guys! And, hey, I don’t know about y’all, but it’s been a crazy month so far! January is one of the busiest months of the year where I work, so I’ve been running around like a chicken with my head cut off for the last four weeks. But, I did manage to get a little reading done, so here’s my update!
What have you read lately? Anything good? Are you looking for something new to read? Don’t forget to leave a comment and let me know what you’re reading this month, too!
What is WWW Wednesday?
WWW Wednesday is a book meme originally created by A Daily Rhythm and revived by Taking on a World of Words. To participate, simply answer the following questions every Wednesday:
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
Here on GraceBought, we’ve been doing these once a month. The idea is for a quick, easy post that keeps you guys in the loop and me involved on a regular basis!
So, without further ado, here is our next WWW Wednesday!
WWWednesday #19
What are you currently reading?
Just a few days ago, I actually started Chris Hogan’s Retire Inspired, a book that’s been on my non-fiction to-read list for a few years.
Thoughts: Most people know I’m a pretty big Dave Ramsey nerd and I’ve been wanting to pick this book up for a while now. But I finally am at a place where I’m ready to start learning more about investing and how to plan for retirement. I’m only a few chapters in so far, but I’m excited!
What did you recently finish reading?
The last thing I actually finished was my Current Read for last month XD It’s called the Reader’s Guide to the Bible: A Chronological Reading Plan by George H. Guthrie. Due to work’s crazy enrollment period, I’ve not read much this month. But I did get this finished in the first week of January! After working through it for a long year, it was really nice to be able to say I made it all the way through the reading plan on time!
Thoughts: You can find my review of the reading plan here, but basically, it was a really good experience for me to go through this with my church congregation throughout 2020–and the first time I made it through the Bible in a year and the first time I read it chronologically!
What do you think you’ll read next?
Hah, sometimes I wonder what this section is for. Cause I almost never actually pick up the book next that I put here. XD There is a never-ending list of books on my to-read list and it’s just so hard to choose from so many awesome options! I’m a moody reader, too, so just because one book sounds good when I type this out, doesn’t mean I’ll actually want to read it when I have the time to sit down and read. But, I have really been wanting to pick up the first book in the Wingfeather Saga by Andrew Peterson, On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness.
Thoughts: I’m so torn. XD On one hand, I’m excited about new books and new reads, like Ogre Enchanted and The Captive Kingdom, but on the other hand, there are series I could (and should have long ago XD) finish like Cursed and Torrent. And, though Beauty and the Beast isn’t my favorite fairy tale, I’ve really looked forward to reading Shea’s series for a few years now. So…what do I do?! What would you read next?
~~~
Well, that’s a wrap for this WWW Wednesday! Let me know what you think below!
Between work and recovering from covid, I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump this month. But I think I may be coming out of that. I finally picked up an easy non-fiction book, Retire Inspired, and I think that may be enough to get me back into the swing of things. I’ve set my reading goals for 2021 and am ready to start my engines!
What about you? Did you set reading goals this year? Have you read any of the books above? What did you think?
Until next time!
Retire Inspired seems so interesting! It’s so cool that you’re already looking into finance!
Oh girl XD I love finances. I’m a total nerd.
Fjskwodjx I need a list of recommended books/blogs!!
Gurl. I gotchu. What do you want to learn? I cannot more highly recommend daveramsey.com Dave Ramsey is the money expert. He has studied God’s and Grandma’s ways of handling money and made it his life’s mission to educate people and teach them to handle money wisely, biblically, and as stewards of God. He has a blog, a whole slew of podcasts, a bunch of books, online courses, free budgeting software, and so much more. I am unashamedly a Dave Ramseyite. You can find resources from him and his team on anything from budgeting, investing, legacy-stuff, and wills, insurance, retirement, to business, leadership, jobs and applications, team-building, etc. Anything by Dave Ramsey, Chris Hogan, or Christy Wright is going to be really good. He also has Ken Coleman, Rachel Cruze, which are great, too. Oh, the new guy is John Delony. I haven’t read anything by him yet, but I really like when he’s on the radio.
Dannnggg you seem to know a lot!! I’ve watched some DaveRamsey before for a high school class (to actually teach my finance. Honestly schools are slacking when it comes to this), but I didn’t know he was a Christian, that’s pretty cool! And are all those other people you mentioned all on DaveRamsey’s website? Or are they all separate? And I think the first thing I should prob learn is budgeting. The only thing I kinda have is Rich Dad Poor Dad.
