Heartstone
A Poem by Coralie
Listen well
To what I know
I must share
Before I go
A stone so small
Beats strong and true
The gem inside
The rarest hue
It’s unique,
Not like another,
This little stone,
It has no brother.
Freely I give
This precious stone.
Take care, I beg
Of what I own.
For to replace
There is none
Because if lost,
Then it is done.
Though resilient
Is the shell,
Scars inside
Have stories to tell
My gift to you
Comes at a price
And should you fail
Risk the stone to ice
Shattered dreams
And broken hopes
Cannot be glued
Or tied with ropes
The broken stone
Will be lost to you
Reclaim the pieces
That’s what I’ll do
Time indeed
Will heal the scar
Add to the list
A memory from afar
Trust my words
This is not my desire
I yearn for rest
Safe haven from fire.
Carefully, it’s you I’ve chosen
To guard this stone
The task is yours
And yours alone.
But prize the treasure
As I’ve told
And love abounds
It’s yours to hold
Loyal to you
It will not bend
Faithfully serve
Until the end
The jagged edges
They will shine
If you polish
Through patience, in time
The gem beneath
Can then be found
But only by one
Who by love is bound
In this task
All have failed
For none yet
Have prevailed
Will you take
My stone from me
To have and to hold
For eternity?
Should yes you choose
The gem I will share
My stone I offer
Do you dare?
