Wildwood Larkwing by Shari L. Tapscott
Fantasy/Adventure. 367 Pages. 4 Stars
Synopsis:
“Till death do us part” might come sooner than Lucia imagined.
After living her entire life on the outside looking in, Lucia has finally ventured into the world of Kalae’s nobility. Now infamous for slaying several sirens in their forbidden waters, she is the king’s new pet, the courtiers’ favorite conversation topic, and the queen’s least favorite former chicken maid.
As if navigating this new world were not enough, a shadow has fallen over Kalae’s most beautiful royal city. Crime runs rampant in Teirn, alchemy supply shoppes are pillaged in the dead of night, and rumors of illicit underground masquerades abound.
On top of all that, Lucia has her own problem in the form of the pirate who stole a piece of her heart. Still-healing Avery is not content with a sliver of Lucia’s affection, not after what transpired between them on the mystery-enshrouded whirlpool island. But with a dark man stalking the adventuress, and a simple job spiraling her and Sebastian into the depths of Kalae’s criminal underworld, Lucia’s not sure if she’ll live long enough to give the captain a real chance.
My Review:
Okay, first of all: awwww! Second of all, why am I always on the losing end of the fight, yo?!
This was book three of Tapscott’s Silver and Orchids series. As the previous stories have been, it was well written, set in an enchanting little world, and stuffed full of amazing characters. I adore the returning characters and love watching them develop, both together and as individuals. There were a few new characters, however, that are very intriguing to me. I hope to see more of the king and queen, but am not sure if I will. LOVED getting to see a certain someone at the end of the book again and really hope there’s more of him in book four! The plot was entertaining and more mysterious than books one and two. I think I liked this plot better than the first two because of the mystery, and also because of the idea of the Larkwing. I think it was well done and a cool premise. I also, strangely, kind of like that it feels unfinished. Lucia may be moving on to the plot of book four, but I have a feeling we’re not quite done with book three’s premise yet. (At least, I hope not, cause if so, that was kind of an “easy way out” ending…which would be disappointing.) Ready for book four!
Mild violence, no foul language, and clean, but oh, so fun romance!

I have reviewed each of the above on Goodreads. Follow the links to find more info on the books and then scroll down to see the reviews. Mine is among them.
This series should be read in order. The prequel isn’t necessary to the series, but it is a lovely addition and can be read at any time.
