The Seer’s Sacrifice by Brittany Fichter
Fantasy. 4 Stars
Synopsis:
The days to fix the Time Stones are running thin.
The Seer has fallen to Sun Sickness.
The Blood Throne still has no heir.
After escaping the devastating battle between Mhaedin and Rangvald’s forces, Eirin, Drystan, and their friends set out for Iilaedin, the Dragons’ Fire Blood Throne, to fix the Time Stones.
The journey, however, is difficult in more ways than one. Solevar is more ravaged than they had imagined, and tension strains their little band as Eirin and Drystan struggle to heal their broken bond. To make matters worse, Eirin falls deathly ill to the Sun Sickness just as they learn that Rangvald is making his way to Iilaedin as well.
Still, the Seer and the Dragon are unable to deny the changes they begin to see in themselves and one another as they draw closer to the royal city. And with those changes, a glimmer of light in which bold choices and wishes are made.
But hope is perilous, and as they muster the last of their allies, they know this will be their final stand. There is no one else. If the Seer and the Dragon cannot rise to chase away the darkness, there will be no dawn.
The Seer’s Sacrifice is the last in the Legacy of the Time Stones Trilogy, a world with magic, love, myth, and mystery. Read Seer’s Secret today to embark on the journey to the Time Stones…before it’s too late.
My Review:
The awaited conclusion to Fichter’s Time Stones Trilogy! (Or as I like to call them, her dragon books XD) I waited a long time for Ficther to write books about dragons, and I am glad she chose to finally write them!
This cover is my favorite of the trilogy. I love the blues and whites together!
The journey to the capital is as harrowing as promised. It was fun to see yet more creatures along the way–I won’t spoil and say which. But I will say that there was a particular return that I TOTALLY CALLED! I was 100% shipping some side characters, and I’m a little upset my ship sank, but at least I got some more screen time with them! There were definitely a few species in this one I had some fun with.
Eirin and Drystan’s romance continued back and forth a little, but it was satisfying to see it finally resolve. And I actually kinda had thought Callispa might be shipped with a particular someone else, but it never came to fruition. I even had a backup option for her since I wasn’t sure how I felt about that predicted ship XD I do have my various favorite side characters that I enjoyed–man this is so hard to explain without spoilers!–and some I’d wished for more time with, but maybe we’ll get some cool shorts or a spin off! The group dynamics between some of our ensemble cast were fun and I do hope we get to see more of the characters at some point in the future.
The story mostly followed the journey to the capital, with several obstacles, of course. The fight at the capital itself flew by pretty quickly. We didn’t spend much time in the climax, but it was still pretty satisfying. It took long enough for Drystan to come around, but the showdown with Rangvald was worth it–and the way the ritual played out was definitely satisfying! I loved the magical twist with the curse and getting to see some of the origins and backstory more.
Content: there’s no swearing, nothing more graphic than a kiss romantically (and some brief and tactful implications of things deeper mentioned). The characters do think about one another quite a bit, resisting their feelings and all that, but it’s a sweet, clean romance. There’s some fantasy violence, but nothing graphically or explicitly portrayed. The climactic battle has some wounds, but I’d say the book is fine for 15/16+
