Jude by Jackie Hill Perry

Bible Study. 208 Pages. 4 Stars

Synopsis:

While often overlooked, the Book of Jude remains as relevant today as the time it was written. God has commanded His beloved church to do the necessary work of contending for the faith in a world of unbelief, and as we do, He will keep us from falling into the same deception.

In this 7-session study from Jackie Hill Perry, dive into themes of being called, loved, and kept, and learn how to point others to Jesus in grace and truth. We serve others well when we share the whole gospel with them, not just the parts deemed attractive by our culture.

My Review:

So, this was a bible study my women’s bible study group did last year and 2020 kind of swallowed me up halfway through, so I had to go back and finish it on my own. That said, I only saw the first half of the video content.

As for the video content I did see, I thought Perry was a very clear teacher. I really enjoyed what she had to say. She was succinct, straight to the point, and yet powerful. The book itself was well laid out and I really enjoyed the way that Perry dissected the letter of Jude. I learned a lot about the letter’s historical context and the original intent that made it so much easier to understand than before when I’ve read through it on my own. I came away from the study with a deeper understanding of what James was trying to convey to his audience and how to apply that to my life in today’s society and culture. And I feel like I’ve grown more confident, not only in my understanding of the letter, but even of its place in the greater work of the Bible as a whole, too. And it was definitely nice to have enough space to write the answers to the questions!

I will admit that by the end of the study, I felt like it was being stretched out. I mean a seven week study on the tiny letter of Jude is a lot! It was impactful, but particularly toward the end, I felt like there was less to unpack than the five page daily studies were unpacking. But, then again, it could also have partially been the fact that I had been in the study for longer than the seven weeks.

I definitely enjoyed this one, and I would recommend it for sure!
