My Review:
I love Dave’s common sense approach and casual tone. He’s relatable and practical. I’ve read several of his books on finances, but I’ve been excited to read this one on business from him for a while now. This is one I’d definitely reread. It combines Dave’s telltale down-to-earth wisdom with the encouragement to motivate you to go out and do what you need to do.
I think one of my favorite parts of reading this has been seeing Dave’s heart for people. The lessons he’s learned and the way he chooses to run his business showcase how much he cares about serving people and serving them well. From his customers to his team members to his partners and everyone in between. In every interaction, Dave challenges readers to filter every choice through the lens of what would best serve them. (Though that doesn’t always mean giving them what they want or what they think they want.)
While EntreLeadership covers important business elements (from the broad ones such as mission statements, vision, time management, goals, etc. to specifics such as hiring, firing, marketing, team unity, etc.), it’s real strength is in the mindset of the EntreLeader. Dave combines the strengths of both a great leader and an entrepreneur and focuses on teaching readers how decisions should be made, which is really far more effective than just following a template for specific decisions. EntreLeadership effectively gives business leaders the power to make their own decisions using wisdom to guide them, enabling them to be flexible enough to mold the mindset to each of their own unique and individual situations.
An easy read, full of great examples (both of warning to avoid and encouragement to replicate), recommended resources (I underlined each book recommendation so they’d be easy to spot looking back!), and even extra content with QR codes (a brilliant idea). I was sad to see that the bonus chapters mentioned in the end papers weren’t on the website, but I imagine if I reached out to Ramsey’s customer service, they may be able to find them.
A business classic I cannot more highly recommend!
