Synopsis:
In Everyday Millionaires , #1 national best-selling author Chris Hogan will show you how ordinary people built extraordinary wealth —and how you can too. You’ll learn how millionaires live on less than they make, avoid debt, invest, are disciplined and responsible! This book is based on the largest study EVER conducted on 10,000 U.S. millionaires— and the results will shock you! You’ll learn that building wealth has almost NOTHING to do with your income or your background! It doesn’t matter where you come from. It matters where you’re going. Most people think it takes crazy investing knowledge, a giant salary, a streak of luck, or a huge inheritance to become a millionaire. But that couldn’t be further from the truth! Here’s what you need to if you’re willing to do the work—if you’ll follow the stuff we teach, if you’ll commit to our plan—then you CAN become a millionaire.
My Review:
Everyday Millionaires sprang from the Millionaire Theme Hour on the Dave Ramsey show. Ramsey Solutions conducted a survey of over 10,000 US millionaires and this book examines the results and shares them in an easily digestible way.
It’s no surprise that Hogan’s focus is on debunking myths, encouraging readers, and presenting common sense principles. It’s right on brand for Ramsey solutions. And he does all of the above quite effectively. I particularly enjoyed the millionaire stories interspersed throughout the book. There are few things more motivating and encouraging than hearing stories of men and women who have been where you are and who have made it to where you’d like to be.
The book is a quick, easy read. Hogan makes an often intimidating topic approachable and manageable. Finances can be scary and emotional. And it can often feel impossible to dream bigger than your situation at present. But Hogan uses the research to encourage and challenge readers to look beyond their “now” and not only dream for financial peace and prosperity, but he walks readers through creating a plan to set achievable goals that will get you there. The action plan in the back offers resources and actionable steps to help readers apply what they’ve learned.
Admittedly, nothing in the book was particularly surprising to me. But then, I’ve been a long-time listener to the Ramsey show, including their Millionaire Theme Hours. But I didn’t buy the book for new information. I bought it cause I love Hogan’s voice, I wanted to see the stories they collected and featured, for the statistics, and for the encouragement. And to add to my Ramsey collection, of course. 😉
I look forward to seeing how this book differs from Dave’s new Baby Steps Millionaires, but I’ll have to report back after I read it. For now, I enjoyed this one. It was clear and well organized. Though some bits felt redundant, it was an encouraging read. And we all need encouragement in hard times. Would recommend for anyone who wants to see the stats and truth of how hard working people made their own financial freedom a priority.
